WELCOME

WELCOME TO THOREAUSISTER

Hello I am the author of thoreausister. I should be writing the great American novel. Or or I should be writing an inspired modern work encouraging 'civil disobedience' based on the ideas that will come forth in this blog. My life has been like a meeting of an art film, Greek tragedy, I Love Lucy episode, biblical story and something indescribable. I thought everyone's life was like this. I thought it was normal until my friend Ray pointed it out to me about 10 years ago that my life was far, far from normal.

Ok, I know most girls from my neighborhood grew up and got married to a boy maybe from across town and then lived no further than 15 miles from where she grew up with only perhaps a brief pause at a college or University.

She certainly didn't go to a University OUT OF STATE. OH NO.

MOVE TO CALIFORNIA. SIN CITY.
Her soul is lost.

And then move to a European city.
Why the HELL (oh they never say hell-- oops).
Why the heck would anyone move to Europe honey?
They don't got ice or soft toilet paper there like they do here in the USA! And my folks left the old country so we didn't have to live there. Why she doin' that?

I am stuck right now. Trying to heal from depression and various traumas. So this is my personal journey of trying to figure out where I go from here when I can go from here, but this journey is not depressing.

I chose the title of thoreausister because I feel a kinship with the writings and philosophies of Henry David Thoreau. An ex-friend called me a sickening bleeding heart liberal, but my stance is less a political one than one of genuinely felt compassion for others especially the oppressed.
For those of you unfamiliar with Thoreau check him out at: http://www.studyworld.com/newsite/ReportEssay/Biography/LiteraryAuthors/Henry_David_Thoreau-383169.htm

Now there are a myriad of Thoreau resources on the web. I chose this one because of its simplicity and because it highlights what I particulary feel in common with him. I have not chosen it because of its scholarly nature.

My blogging is anonymous because it is truthful and based on my life experiences. I have changed the names to avoid litigation.

I have chosen to write in a very free form manner and inevitably you will find grammar and punctuation errors which disturb me, but in the interest unblocking my muses, please bear with me. Someday, I shall edit all of this. This way instead of saying I should have, I can say, and I did.

Please feel free to email comments. I will try to respond to all. If you want to use text from my blog for commercial purposes, you must contact me to make arrangements. (There most likely will be a charge).

If you want to cite a portion of my text, (for texts, articles, etc.) you must do so verbatim with quotations and indicate that it comes from thoreausister, and date of publication.

Please link freely to websites, email etc.

One last thought. The web is great so full of stuff, it lets us communicate. I really love books too. This blog is basically meant to be read. Maybe I will change my mind later. So it will be pretty gray. You are either going to like my writing or not. I know how to do graphic design. I have chosen not to for now. Write me and tell me I am wrong.
Oh, the food. Well nothing interferes with the food. Or it shouldn't anyway, but sometimes, unfortunetly, it does. Food is one of those wonderful things we all have in common yet choose to express ouselves in so many different ways as individuals and as cultures. It's such a part of our lives, I cannot fathom blogging without food mixed in my brew.
Thoreau's real sister's were Sophia and Helen. I am not either
